"Venturer" -- wow. That's right up there with Sorny, Panafonic, and Magnetbox!

Cheap was the A2 for $99 before Thanksgiving. An A-3 with 10 movies is cheaper at $300

They really messed up with this. This player was announced months ago before the $99 Toshiba player. Now it just looks like an overpriced generic player.

That's something all HD-DVD players have. Its for extras on discs and also for firmware updates.

The A2 wasn't REALLY a $99 player anymore than the Wii was a $79 game console just because Amazon Customer's vote sold a limited quantity of them at that price one day last week. The regular retail is still more than that and I doubt we'd have seen around that price anywhere else had Wal-Mart not been selling them at that price for one day. I doubt I'd pay $200 for the Venturer myself (especially since I still have two A2s in my trunk), but that's the entry-level price point they were shooting for to undercut Blu-Ray.

I wasn't trying to say this unit was a deal, just that contrary to all the denial, WM IS stocking an HD-DVD player at a regular retail of $200 in time for Christmas.
