  1. hi, long time
i bought this vantec avox media player with lappy hdd in it. <av leads to tv
plays just about anything, but i noticed some divx avi i play have no sound.
seems mp3 audio is ok, but
    Audio : 120 MB, 256 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM, CBR, , Supported <avicodec>
    ac3 seems the problem
the computers codecs couldnt affect a raw file could it.?

  2. Use a player that has a built in AC3 decoder (VLC, KMPlayer) or install an DirectShow AC3 filter.

it's a standalone hardware device jag-no choice of media players. the only thing i would try is to complain to the manufacturer and see if they will correct the problem with a firmware update.

not a good sign with this as a feature - "1080i Progressive Scan" ???

Sorry, I missed that. I'm so used to seeing people with codec problems in Windows.

dont quite get that but sorta do

the avox serves the purpose for me as in,
no more out of sync issues with divx on cd or converted to dvd.
plus im cripple and using disks ect is pain in the ass.
might upgrade from the avox to a mediagate(takes 3.5inch hdds instead)
great idea, but yea, vantec have basicly no support for it,remote sux, it only likes fat32 not ntfs

Use AVI_GAIN_Regular.BAT in the AVI_GAIN package found here:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic314909.html

It will convert the AC3 to MP3 and create and remux the audio into a new AVI
