    You need to encode the audio separately, then mux the two together.
    Read my blog here.

    You are likely to hear this anyway, so to get it out of the way, KVCD is a non-standard format and may not work on some, if not many, DVD players. Do you have some overpowering reason to use KVCD? You can put 10 hours of video on a DVD if you want, but I wouldn't watch it. Just to let you know, KVCD is not that popular around here.

    But apparently that version of KVCD templates doesn't have audio, so you will have to encode the audio separately. I would suggest trying ffmpeggui and encode the audio to AC3. It's fairly compact and is DVD compatible. You are using a VCD resolution, so don't expect great quality. But good luck with this. TMPGEnc 'tools' may be able to mux (add) it back with the video. Or if you are making a DVD, you can add the audio during the authoring process.

    And welcome to our forums.

    thanx for the help figured it out
    heres how to do it incase anyone else runs into this problem

    you probably got the right twmplates m8, what you do is follow, the guides as you would normally to encode. but at the last box you uncheck the encode immediately box, then you check the system audio/video option and you WILL get both encoded. Theres a detailed guide here m8
    http://www.weethet.nl/english/video_kvcd_intro.php should help you out

    No. As redwudz said, KVCD isn't very popular around here. If you are insistent about using it, you can go to http://www.kvcd.net and consider paying to join the website. If you pay, they have various things you can download, but ONLY if you pay to join. Not only do many of us thing the KVCD format is crap, we have a problem with them making you pay to get help and download stuff, but that's how they run things in KVCDland.

    Paying for help isn't the issue as much as KVCD is a crappy non-format "format" created by an egotist to butcher the hell out of video to squeeze it onto a CD or less DVDs. It's ridiculous. Teaching people how to make video worse is the anti-thesis of this very site.

    You're better off doing pretty much anything else.

    The only thing worse than a KVCD is Youtube, but even those Youtube videos handle color better. Flash is more robust than a compressed-to-hell MPEG file.

    Just some notes:

    --> 352x240/288 is acceptable (IMO) only if the the screen size of
    your TV-set is 29'' or less;

    --> drop the wizards, because they usually prevent the user from
    actually learning something about what they are (not) doing;

    --> if you simply set TMPGEnc to encode in CQ=70 with max bitrate = 2000 kbps
    then you won't need to use the kVCD template at all ---
    kwag's quantization matrix can reduce the size of your new MPEG-1 file,
    but it also will make its quality even lower. You have been warned.

    Hope this helps.

    So true Midzuki, I encoded a few movies for a friend or 2, and went kvcd because I was low on dvd's at the time, and only because they had 25" and 27" t.v. sets. Other than those factors, the quality is nothing to brag about.

  11. kvcd? how about svcd instead that would be more decent to me
    a vcd with 1800k of bitrate now that's ridiculous
    mpg1 is one ugly codec for real ....it helped in 1998 lol but c'mon

    You know, lordsmurf, sometimes I get really annoyed with you, and sometimes I think you show a lot of common sense and even genius. I'm pretty sure you feel the same about me (well, the annoyed part, anyway). But I couldn't agree more with that statement. So whenever these KVCD threads pop up, or the ones about "How can I fit 10 hours on a DVD", or "I want to put 5 DVDs onto a single layer DVDR", or even "I have a crappy YouTube video I want to make look good for DVD", I just want to yell, "Get the f**k outta here!" Pandering to these people only lowers the reputation of this site.

    People that want to make KVCD stuff should go ask the idiots at KVCD.net. And don't forget to pay your registration fee.

    Come on, dear Master. There is no need to be so harsh ---
    especially if we consider that it's Christmas time
    IMHO, saying
    "We're tired!
    This type of question has been asked and answered too many times!
    USE google TO SCAN THE DAMN SITE "
    should be sufficient

    Speaking of "Christmas time", happy MMVIII (to everyone whose name
    is not listed on my Black Book, bien entendu)
    --- even though the New Year's Day should be around March 21, and
    even though nothing changes on New Year's Day.
