  1. I keep collecting info and links (on my web site) about how to capture SVCD standard 'on the fly' with MMC 7.5 ... I think we are nearly there!

  2. first, using the CBR is more likely to keep the ATI MPEGs within SVCD bounds. it still varies a few hundred kbps, but nowhere near the spikes the VBR has. i use around 2.24Mbps CBR for most applications. it goes between 40-48 min on 80min CDR for most captures.

off topic question - i'm considering the switch to 7.5, and i know you're a big proponent, but i'm using the computer as my primary tv for a while. my friend says he has problems with full-screen file playback, that you can see the top few lines on the desktop, which i would find pretty annoying. i know 7.1 doesn't do this, but does 7.5 with a 128 Pro?

  3. I kept my SVCD templates to CBR at 2.3

2.3 CBR seems to be the most common 'suggested standard'

I'm just excited that I found a way to make them Nero compliant - that makes my life so much easier

as for the switch to 7.5 I get a lot of email from people asking me about the install - not that I'm an expert at all - I had a very simple install - but to answer your question - on my Radeon I don't have the full-screen problem. When I go to full-screen it looks just right.

I installed 7.5 right on top of 7.1 and didnt have any problems - some people have had problems with 7.5 but once they uninstall it - follow the top part of this guide on how to clean out all previous MMC installs (http://www.vcdhelp.com/ATI_AIW_Guide.htm) and then reinstall 7.5 99% of the time their problems go away.
