Was wondering what all you Apex owners (AD-600A here) use for you VCDs, specifically what is the maximum bitrates you've successfully burned and played on you players? I haven't tried anything other than the standard 1150kbs, was wondering how high I should shoot for, if I should at all (will I notice a difference?) TIA!

Will you notice a difference. Depends on the source. For DVD rips increasing the bitrate (and resolution) makes a huge difference. Personally I like 352x480 or 480x480, VBR: min=300 max=2520, ave=1400~2200 (as necessary).
I also have an Apex AD600A, I made some xVCDs at 2500, 3000, 3500, and 4000. 3500 was skippy. 3000 was ok. Didn't try anything inbetween. The problem is that unless you've got a really short clip you don't want a bitrate the highI find that 3pass VBR in CCE w/ the above settings works best for me...
