Is it possible to use the sharpen filter during capture in VDub? At the moment I've only used the filter after capturing the footage, it would be a lot easier for me if I could do this during the capture, then I can load the footage straight into Windows Movie Maker for editing. I can't test this out at the moment, I'm at college, but if someone could just let me know I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Yep, you can add filters during capture. But you might drop frames if your computer can't handle the filter(s) in realtime.

Can you tell me how to do this? I have selected the sharpen capture, but nothing is happening to the video.

You have to turn on RGB filter mode in oder to capture with filter capabilites.

Once inside virtualdub's capture window, do the following, in order:

    ..video\Enable RGB Filtering
    ..video\Filter\Add

Once you click on the Add button, you can add your filter functions there.
But, be aware the some filters will be too slow or bog down your capturing,
that will most probably produce a lot of dropped frames.

Simple things like de-interlace or rgb coloring should be ok. But, for the most
part, you'll have to trial n error some of the filters, to be sure. Just keep a
monitor of the status windows (ride side) during capturing and observe the
CPU performance.. especially the Frames Dropped and/or Frames Inserted fields.

And CosmicOutburst, it would help considerably if you filled out your computer details as we have no idea what capabilities your system has or even what OS you are using.

And what format are you capturing in? If you were using DV AVI, there are other programs that can adjust some aspects of the video during transfer to the hard drive. Other codecs and formats may be way too CPU intensive to use any filtering during capture, especially if you are using a older PC.

And is this related to your other post?: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic340915.html#1778358 Without any information, all we can do is guess.
