  1. I DID get mpeg2enc.intel.txt to download. But won't install without the other 2 components. I assume the .txt must be removed first...

But, downloading the other 2 essentials (mplayer & mencoder zip binaries) ended w/ "server stopped responding".
    I used:
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffmpegXbinaries20060307.zip
    to get them.

    What to do next?

    Cheers, Jim B

    Go here:

    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=62947&package_id=70503&release_id=162732

and get the 14.4mb binary ending in 20060307. It contains mplayer and mencoder. Further down at the bottom of the list is the real video component (reallib.zip).

    mp2enc.intel is here: http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net/MacOS/mpeg2enc.intel

  3. Dear dnix71: Many thanks for the info. All were download and installed in ffmpegX w/o ado.

Where does <reallib> come into play? Looks like a large # of linux bundles to compile?

ffmpegX seems to launch and work OK. I haven't tried any encodes yet though...

    Cheers, Jim B
    PS Please excuse my ignorance

If you want to convert Real Video (not audio) then unzip the Helix codec package (reallib.zip) and put it in library/appsupport/ffmpegX.
