  1. Ok i am new to this and have only been playing for a few days...

I am trying to put a vcd on to dvdr so it will play in my PS2 and DVDplayer (megadata saturn 1700). I used TMPGEnc to split the dat files into audio and video, then reencoded audio to 48bits , this all seemed to go well. Then using spruceup to autherise it with 1 menu at start. I used nero (UDF/ISO) to burn the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS to DVDR using my pioneer AC03.
The result :_ plays fine in pc using windvd , wont play in PS2 and comes up as BAD DISC on dvdplayer.
I used the guides on here to do the encoding and can't see anywhere i have gone wrong.
    Please HELP

  4. What's up Tiger. I am a master at making vcds. I feel your pain when you have done everything that the guides explian and do not produce a product. I also have had problems of putting 3 to 4 vcds on a dvd disc. I have a HP dvd/rw and had no luck at it either. I can copy single movies to a dvd, but not 3 to 4 vcd on it. I also tried various guides which took me no time to follow. Yet, when I think I have something that can play in a standalone dvd player it fails. I have three different brands of dvd standalones and for the past 20 plus tries of putting 3 to 4 vcds on a dvd disc all I have is failures. The only success I have is from a single copy movie to dvd. I owned a pioneer DVDr and a hp dvd/rw and and tried it on numerous softwares and it just dosen't work. I hope some can explain what is the deal. I just will have to wait till I make my next one when a improved guide comes out. Good luck.

  5. ok m8,
so you have no probs putting one vcd onto dvd?? So if i cut & join all the files ((4 .dat)) then using TMGnec, demultuplex so i have 1 video and 1 audio.
Then reconvert the audio to 48 bit and autherise the file using spruceup you think it would work??
Is the video file ok as a mpeg 1 with the settings in my post.

Your help or anybody elses would be appreciated

  6. I was coming from copying vob files to a dvd+rw, which there is a guide for on the vcdhelp site. What I stated before about putting 3 to 4 vcd on one dvd disc is the one that I haven't accomplished and know three other people who are in the same predicament. We follow and have foolowed guides to the tee on what is out there on the net, and have not accomplished 3 to 4 vcds on a dvd disc. We even tried other various methods, but ne go. So until there is some form of resolution to the mis-information about it, all I can say is that you continue to wait for the next gudie of improvement that the vcd to dvd format works.

It worked perfect for me....9 recorded vcd trek episodes on one dvd+rw using the exact method in the guide(tmpgenc with toolame->spruceup->nero) and played it on a pioneer dv-444 and on a sony player....I have no idea why it wont work for you but if you ever find any solution(s) please let me know so I can add it to the guide.

I just read this in the dvd mystified faq
Discs containing NTSC video must use PCM or Dolby Digital on at least one track.
so it may cause problem with some dvd players because the VCD audio is in MPEG, so try encode the audio to either pcm or dolby digital(with for example sonic foundry soft encode) and see if works better.

  9. I will try to check out the ntsc to pal and see if that is where I went wrong

  10. just to clear something up , you both mention using dvd+rw and i am using dvd-r , could this be a problem?

Discs containing NTSC video must use PCM or Dolby Digital on at least one track.

So if i make the files PAL this may work ??

i will first take your advice and use sonic to make PCM sound file and let you know the results.

    thanks for the help
