I am using Power Director 6 for the first time. No problem editing my movies but when I create an AVI file from my project, there is no audio during playback with either Real Player or Windows Media Player. Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

Drop the file into Gspot and see what it lists for the audio format. Gspot should also tell you are missing a playback codec. MP3 and AC3 are commonly used for AVI type files. MP3 is more common. Other formats like Ogg are also used to a lessor extent.

To playback AC3, you may have to install a codec, like AC3 Filter. VLC should play them without any codecs and it's one way to test if you have a codec problem.

    And welcome to our forums.

Thanks for the tip. I tried using Gspot but it says all codecs are installed. Any other ideas?

You could post a Gspot screenshot here, or have you tried using VLC to play one of the files? Neither Real Player or WMP are very good players, IMO.

    For posting Gspot screenshots: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic271697.html

Some common possibilities are the audio is out of spec or wrong for your format or you don't have the proper tools to play it back. For example MP3 audio won't work with MPEGs most times and MPEG-1 Layer2 audio won't work with AVIs most times.
