  1. I've been messing around with Gspot and Directshow Filter Manager to get ffdshow to show up while playing mp3 files. I turned the merits to lowest on all of my audio decorders and set ffdshow merit to highest just to get ffdshow to come up while using WMP. When I render it in Graphedit and play it, ffdshow does show. The filter shows as:

MP3FILE > mpa splitter > ffdshow > default directsound device.

I only have ffdshow and directshow filter 3.0 installed along with other default codecs that came with my computer. When I first bought it, I installed ffdshow and it always came up. Then I uninstalled it for a new version and now it doesn't show up. I uninstalled it again and reinstalled it. Still the same. Hopefully someone has an answer cause I started playing around with my registry now ^o^. I am running Vista btw. Thanks in advance.

You can try 'switch-on' Uncompressed in ffdshow audio decoder configuration...

    Maybe better use other player...

In Windows XP, WMP use ACM codec (Fraunhofer) to play MP3 files.

  3. Gosh that really sucks. I like using the mixer function in ffdshow to amp up the music. I did figure out some kind of way to get it to work but then I'll have to delete a dll in which I really don't want to. If I delete MP3DOMD.DLL, ffdshow will appear, but I'm not sure what the consequence of that will be. For some odd reason that codec will appear from time to time, but the merit for that codec is 0x000000000, which it shouldn't be used. Anyone know what DMO's are?? Cause I think they cause a lot of problems.

  4. I'm don't know what is in Vista, but...
After uninstall default system MP3 ACM codec in Windows XP, WMP not recognise and not play MP3 files - not use ffdshow (i'm check few other filters and codecs too).

    Personally, i'm prefer other players.

BTW... about DMO codecs, look example at Wikipedia and MSDN.

  5. This DMO stuff is really getting to me. In Directshow Filter Manager, it's showing unknow CLSID for ALL DMO filters. I ended up changing permissions in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT on the registry to add Merit for MP3 Decoder DMO and finally was able to change the merit of MP3 Decoder DMO to 0x000000, but then I couldn't play ANY media. I forgot what the error was but I ended up doing a system restore to get all my media playing again. I tried uninstalling it in GSpot, configuring ffdshow to all supported for uncompressed, changed the registry and still nothing has changed. I even did a clean install to get ffdshow to come up while playing mp3 and darn it, nothing changed. Anyone else have Vista? Are your DMO's showing Unknow CLSID in Directshow Filter Manager? I'm reading more about how to disable DMO wrapping or some method to turn it off.
