I have a collection of old series on DVD (Dallas) more than 25 DVD. I need to make a back-up for the cottage. I don't want to have 25 dvd..What is the best way to convert those DVD in a more compact way without losing quality.
    Thanks

You can't compress video without losing quality. (See the period? )
How many disks do you want?
Must they still be in Video DVD format? If so, there's not much to be done, without losing quality substantially.
If your cottage player plays DivX/XviD AVI, you could rip and convert to this format, and get 4-5 hours of decent video quality on one DVD-5

If they are protected, you'll have to rip them to HDD first; if not, you should be able to use the disks as source directly.

Probably not. Standalone players are rather narrow on what they support. In AutoGK there's a standalone compatibility setting. avi.net always create standalone friendly output.

Quality wise, if both use the same settings and the same codec, the output will be the same. But AGK is probably more versatile and has more settings to 'tweak'. But that may also make it a bit harder to set up and use. However once you find the combination that suits you, you can run all your files through the same.

FairUse Wizard is another DVD to Divx/Xvid program and is very easy to use if AGK intimidates you. There's a freeware version available in our tool page. Downside is it has to work from a DVD disc or a ISO file.
