    Hey guys
i encoded a file using tmpgenc
i only did an elementary stream for video because the source audio was 5 ch ac3
so i demuxed the audio using vdubmod
and now when i try to add the demuxed audio to my encoded video file on tmpgenc dvd author when im ready to author the files.. it says that its an illegal audio format, that standalone dvds can only have mp2 ac3 or pcm audio. im like 'helllooo' this IS ac3,
    kinda stupid, but i dunno.
    it just wont work.
any one know how to fix this?
i can resort to extractingit as a wav and converting it to AC3 again but that would mean i would have to put 2 addition convertions on the audio which may damage its quality a bit.

i tried to put the extracted AC3 through belight but tht wont work, it finishes in like a second, and produces a 0kb file that doesnt work.

i tried to extract the audio and save it as a wav. i did a direct stream copy and saved as wav using vdubmod, i put it through belight, and it just does nothing, i left it for 10 mins, no change not even any ETA.
anybody know how to solve this?
i would prefer to have it demuxed frst time and put it straight into my dvd authoring programme
    thanks,
    Mubs

Try running your demuxed AC3 thru AC3Fix. That should take care of TDA not accepting it.

I normally use DGIndex to create a d2v file, an avs file and demux the audio. You can try using AC3Fix on the ac3 file before authoring.

Pretty simple to use. Put it in your windows/system32 dir.
Open a command prompt, change to the dir of your AC3 file.
    type
    Code:
    ac3fix original.ac3 fixed.ac3
(replace original.ac3 with the real name of your ac3 file of course)
    That's it!

Well, I really can't teach you how to use a computer, but you change directory by typing cd followed by the directory name, like cd temp
You change drive by typing just the drive letter folowed by :, like d:

You can also skip the part of changing directories by specifying the full path to your input and output files, and run ac3fix with for example:
    Code:
    ac3fix d:\rip\audio\original.ac3 d:\rip\audio\fixed.ac3
Beware of spaces in the folder/file names tho - If you have, it may work if you surround the path with quotations, like:
    Code:
    ac3fix "d:\rip\audio files\original audio.ac3" "d:\rip\audio files\fixed audio.ac3"
but then again it may not. Allowing spaces in folder/file names was never a good idea.

    @ the OP:

Should I really have added "press the ENTER key after writing
    'help' on the command-line window"
