    i have a few dvd rips that i have converted to an image file using dvd shrink.
    now my question is how do i get playback from that type of file. i have used powerdvd and wmp, but both programs won't reconize that type of file type(.img)
    i have used img files many time to backup my originals, but now that i have a laptop i wanted to save the movies as image type for future playbackon my laptop(so that i don't have to carry a stack of dvds) on my road trips,,,,now is this posible for simple playback,, or do i have to convert the files to something else..

    Actually, VLC will play back ISOs or image files with no problem. A few other players will do that also. No need to mount them just for playback.
