first of all hello I'm new to this place, very informative very useful, now let's get right on it I need to burn a video to a Dual Layer DVD (apparently) but the "transfer rate" thing of this video is like 6~8 Mb or Mbits? and now I hear a DVD "transfer rate" on 1x is 1.32 so does this mean I'll need to get a 8x DVD to watch my video. I'm really sorry but my tech skills so far were limited to putting DVD into players and pressing play. Thank you in advance.

All DVDs when viewed on a player are running at 1x, even when they are burned at faster speeds.

Whether your player will view a burned DL DVD is independant of this. Some brands/models of player won't read any burned DL disks. Some brands/models of players will read some brands of burned DL disks. Some brands/models of player will read some brands of DL disks burned at certain speeds.

In other words if it works, it works. In my opinion Verbatim DVD+R/DL is your best bet to work.

To add to oldandintheway's excellent post, you should consider using Verbatim DVD+R DL discs for burning DL and you should burn with ImgBurn. People who don't use Verbatim discs often have problems. ImgBurn seems to give the best results for burning DL discs and it's free.

If you're in Georgia which was part of the USSR in the past, I don't know if you can get Verbatim DVD+R DL discs easily or not. If you use other brands because they are all you can find, I wish you the best, but we get posts here all the time from people who don't use Verbatim DL discs and they have a lot of problems.

Thank you so very much, yes my Georgia was part of the USSR but getting Verbatim DVDs is no problem at all, it's quite the opposite really the only Dual Layer DVDs I could find are from Verbatim. As for ImgBurn I'm definitely going to give it a try. thank you again
