    Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I went away for a few days and have come back to find that my stupid boyfriend has uninstalled Cyberlink programs supplied by OEM (I don't know what any of this means, just reading his notes on what he's done). He has got some on a 30 day free trial, which means I now have picture on Media Centre but no sound.

It's my only TV so I really hope someone can help!! If you can tell me what to do (other than banning my idiot boyfriend from touching anything mildly technical again) I would be so grateful- have tried calling Mesh- the manufacturer, but they just put me on hold for 7 minutes on a £1 per minute line!!!

    Thanks in advance,

    Jo.

I assume you are referring to Cyberlink PowerDVD? If not, the full application name would be helptul.

yes- as far as I know that's what it is- he has downloaded Cyberlink PowerDVD, which fixed everything but the sound.

The OEM is probably the manufacturer of your computer if this is a media centre pc.

You need the original disks to restore the programs or an image from System Restore.

The trial version which your boy friend has downloaded is probably incomplete for your needs.

As a first step click on start at the lower left of your screen, then Help and Support. Select the system restore option. If you haven't waited too long restoring to a previous image may help.

If you had an automatic backup program like Norton Systemworks with GoBack, getting running again would be a snap.

If System Restore can't fix your problem you will need to reinstall from your system's masters. Different manufacturers have different procedures, so if necessary contact your manufacturer for help.

Now put a password on your user account.

And create a new user account for him with no admin rights if possible.
