Which DVD Authoring tool to use?

I am interested in some opinions about which dvd authoring software to use. I currently record mpg with my hauggauge tuner. I like to burn the old movies to dvd. I use videoredo for commerical removal. I have used Nero's dvd software and tried DVDlabpro. I like DVDlabpro but $100 buck is to much. My goal is minor but the software I have now will not do it. I would like to have two items on the main menu. Play Movie and chapter selections button that take you to another menu with a chapter menu. I know that DVDlabpro can do it but I don't need all the other functionality I just want a simple, cheap or free software that can do what I have described. I know that there is software out there will do what I want like dvdauthorgui, but I would rather not demultiplex everything. I know that the simple little programs like nero and ulead moviefactory are cheesy but they don't require demultiplexing and are easy with simple templates. Thanks for any idea you all might have.

I am using TMPGEnc DVD Author. It is simple and offers what you require. Maybe you might want to give the trial a go and see if it fits your needs.

I still run an old version of TMPGEnc DVD Author, 1.6, and am happy with that. Very simple to use. The newer versions have added too many extras for my tastes.

Another option you might look into is ConvertXToDVD. It accepts MPEG video and works fairly well as a simple authoring program. And the price is reasonable.

Assuming you meant to say "Hauppauge" tuner card, the included Ulead Moviefactory 3 SE will do what you want. As I recall, the Title Image Box is the chapter menu button.

If you use videoredo, you can output the video as type 'vob' and just import this in GfD or dvdauthorgui. There is no need to demultiplex. Videoredo can create a dvdauthor compatible multiplexed mpeg file (including empty nav packets) which usually works well.

me too. not too configurable, but does the job for me (and others).

Convertxtodvd will not create a chapter menu, just menu items for the main movie (s)
