I am having problems with my hard drives. It seems no matter how much free space I have on them when I rip a DVD and make it into a iso with DVD Shrink it fragments the file. Is there something wrong with my hard drives? Because about one out of every five DVDs I make has glitches in them, even after I run disk defragmenter. My DVD writer is brand new, my external hard drive is only a few months old, and I use Verbatim DVD-R discs.

Unless you are having other issues with your HDD, no, a fragmented ISO won't cause these problems.

What sort of glitches are you talking about ?
Are they consistent during playback ? (i.e. always int he same place)
Are they consistent across other players ?
Do you scan you disc for errors after burning ?

There are pixel distortion issues (random small squares that distort the picture). They appear at random spots on different discs. It happens on all of my DVD players. No I haven't scanned for errors.

If they are occurring in different places each time then it is a media or player issue.

Try DVD Info Pro or Nero CD/DVD Speed for scanning the burns.
