I have a few questions that I am sure someone can explain to me.
I have a HVR-M25U deck and access to our video masters. They want them to be in raw format on hard disk drives (we are getting alot of storage) so we can make compilations easily. These comps will be made on DVD and must be of high quality.
What is the format I should concider as RAW and what tools/how etc... should I accomplish this?
If I ripped the DVDs would the VOBS be of the same quality as ripping from the masters that are on tape?
Thank you in advance for all your help in this matter.

Uncompressed AVI.
The masters will be better than the ripped DVD. However, the re-compressed DVD image you make may, or may not, be as good as the ripped VOBs.
