Hello! I have ATI RADEON™ HD 2600PRO graphic card, which support hardware video decode acceleration h.264, but not x.264. How i can convert x.264 movie file (mkv) to h.264 (any) in order to enable hardware acceleration during playback move?

    Please help,
    Thank you

x264 = h264, the x264 encoder makes h264/avc video. But I guess you need a software player that uses the hardware acceleration like powerdvd but it doesn't support mkv...

u need to understand , that x264 is the encoder while H.264 is the codec . x264 is used for producing H.264 streams .

By default when you use something else like Media Player Classic with something like Cyberlink PowerDVD and its h264 codecs, you can use Cyberlinks h264 codecs within Media Player Classic, and the MKV files with h264 can then be therefore decoded by Cyberlinks h264 decoders
