Hi guys, I need some help.
I recorded a Sports event onto 2 DVD5+r's as my recorder isnt Duel Layer compatable but my PC is able to burn DVD9's so i wish to backup the content off each disc and edit the files to create 1 3 Hour file which i can burn to DVD9.

I recently used DVD Shrink and each 1Hr30Mins disc backed up as 4 VOB. files. I used Nero and added the 8 VOB. files to create a project thats 3Hr's long and 100% quality as it were on the Original DVD5's.
I tried burning this and 3/4 of the way through an error accured? I really need help with this and fiqure here was the best place to ask.

Please get back to me as soon as if possible and thank you very much in advance for any help you can provide.
Sorry if this is the wrong section, Im new here. Thanks.

How did you add them together? A DVD is much more than just the VOBs. Nero probably isn't a good tool for this anyway. Try a DVD authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author or the freeware GUI for dvdauthor. You also might take a look at 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left on this page for the DVD structure and format.

Here's one guide that may help concerning merging DVDs: http://www.thepcaddict.com/dvdremake/importingdvdsandediting/index.htm

Or you could use VOB2MPG and extract two MPGs, then re-author them.

    And welcome to our forums.

VOB2MPG just extracts the existing MPEG-2 from the VOB containers. Sort of the reverse of authoring. It doesn't do anything to the video itself.

What are you playing the extracted MPEG back with? Many video editors don't do well with playback of large files. Even some software players may have problems with a 4 -8GB video file.

DVD Decrypter can also extract to one large file.
