    Hi All,

I remember using a program (freeware I think) about a year ago that would allow me to load an .avi (divx or xvid encoded at the least), and set a start point—say on frame 1000—and an end point—say on frame 5000, and I could 're-save' the file without re-encoding video or audio as a video that just had the clip from frames 1000-5000.

I would imagine there are advanced programs that do this, but I remember this program being very simple and straightforward.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

    My best,
    David

Virtualdub or virtualdubmod does that easily just save the selection using directstream copy so it doesn't recompress.

However you will be restricted to keyframe cut points. The latest beta has smart encoding, which will only re-encode the open gops.
