DVD Shrink help

When I try to make a clip, it will go through ok, but I will get this message...

What message? What you posted appears to be a very small part of a Nero log file. Some versions of Nero aren't compatible with DVDShrink.

You could have Shrink create a VIDEO_TS folder and burn it with ImgBurn in 'Build' mode. Or use a ISO file from Shrink and use ImgBurn to burn the DVD.

And you should edit out your Nero serial number unless you want somebody else to be using it.

I'll give it a try:

Install ImgBurn.

In Shrink, go to 'Edit>Preferences>File I/O'. Uncheck 'Enable burning with Nero'. Now process your video with Shrink. Also in 'Preferences', You can set a custom size if you are not using good DVD media and have Shrink make a DVD file maybe 100 - 200MB smaller so the DVD media doesn't use the outer edge of the disc, which can be a problem for some DVD media. I only use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, so I don't have that problem.

When you click 'Backup', another menu will open. Select 'Target Device'. You can specify your output folder there. I would put it in a easy place to find. You can delete it after a successful burn or just leave it and the next time Shrink runs, it will overwrite it with the new Shrink file.

'Select backup target' will give you options of 'Create ISO image file' or 'Create DVD files'. The ISO is probably easier. These settings will stay there, so you don't have to do this part again for the next DVD.

Once it's done, start ImgBurn and select your new ISO file. ImgBurn will take over from there and burn your DVD to disc. ImgBurn can also burn with a VIDEO_TS folder by selecting the 'Build' mode, then the folder. You can also set ImgBurn to delete the ISO file if wanted. And you can adjust many other settings in ImgBurn if wanted. If you are using 16X DVD media, you could set it to 12X if you have burning problems at 16X.

That's about it.

General info about Shrink. If you just do the main movie, no menus, subtitles, other video tracks or languages, it often fits on a DVD with minimal shrinking and quality loss. You can set all those in preferences also. Use 'Re-author' for that. For my backups, I usually select, 'Hide audio and subpictures of insignificant size', 'English' language, 'Disable all subpictures....', and 'AC3' only for the audio. I have all that on the original disc, so I don't need them for the backup.

Many newer movies will require processing through DVDFab HD Decrypter or similar before using Shrink.
