  1. A Bit of Background:

Capturing using VirtualDub from my Sony Hi8 Camcorder
    480x576, 16Bit, Picvideo MJPEG
    PCM 44,100,16Mit Mono

Framserving to TMPEnc and compessing using pretty much the standard SVCD Template

Burning the SVCD using Nero buring ROM.

Okay, now when I play back the MPEG2 Streams on my PC using say PowerDVD there is no sync problems at all.

When I place the burnt CD into my Teac DV-2150 DVD Player the audio is delayed about a second behind the Video.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

One last thing, in TMPEnc the audio settings are: MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, 44100, Mono, 128 Bits per sec. (Could this be a problem?)

    Thanks in advance,

  2. what i would try and see is to make sure you are using 25 frames per second.
I say that because i noticed that your resolution was 480x576.
Change your audio to stereo instead of mono. The file size wont increase so do not worry.

I've had the same problem with my Philips DVD-player. Apparently (with my machine anyway) it had to do with an error in an older version of Nero. I'be just recently tried to make another SVCD (with Nero 5.5, with the exact same settings as before, and guess what...no more audio delay) So if you're running an older version of Nero...update & maybe your problems will be solved.

  4. Thanks for your reply's.

I am using Nero Ver 5.5 and it is 25fps.

Since I posted the question, I have found a work around. When I start the SVCD playing on my DVD player, using the remote control, I select the other Audio Channel (which doesn't exist) and then immediately change back to the original channel, then the audio and video are sync'ed fine!!!

This would suggest a problem within the DVD player. O'well at least it works!!

    Best Regards
    Chris.

  5. I solved the sound delay with encoding the audio to 48000 MHz in stead of 44100 MHz - and voila - all problems solved.

You can also press the PAUSE button on your remote and then immediately press PLAY again - that also should solve the delay problem.

But with the audio converterted to 48000 MHz, I don't have to do anything. The SVCD's just play in sync every time.

Oh BTW, my DVD player is a Philips.
