  1. Video: XVID 1440x1080 25.00fps 6527Kbps [Video 0]

MPEG4 Modifier shows pixel AR at 4:3

This translates to 16:9 and used to play as 16:9 in MPC

I messed around with MPC setting dealing with MP4 files lately and now it plays it back at 4:3. Any hint on what setting am I missing?

    Thanks!

1440 x 1080 is in fact the squeezed version of 1920 x 1080 (16:9 DAR). If this was set correctly in the file itself, mpeg4 modifier should show it as being 16:9. Of course, this assumes it has been encoded correctly in the first place.

  3. MPEG4 Modifier is showing Custom Pixel AR of 4:3. My understanding is that DAR is mostly ignored but pixel AR is honored by some programs.

It worked in MPC before. It must be something tweaks that I did.

What's the way to reset MPC settings?

    Thanks!

  4. I have 2 files, which is split by VirtualDub. The first file is small and plays in MPC as 16:9. The 2nd is large and plays as 4:3. I can't tell any difference. What should I look for?

  5. OK. I've narrowed down the problem. When there is .srt subtitle file, the avi is played back as 4:3. If I remove the srt file, it plays back 16:9.

    What's going on here?

    Thanks!

    I don't know. Anyway, ...

In MPC: menu "View", item "Video Frame",
options = "Keep Aspect Ratio", "Override Aspect Ratio".
