i was encoding an mkv file (something i do daily, being addicted to fansubs and all) when the file froze at roughly 90% and gave off this error:

crc checked out on the file, it plays back fine in both vlc and quicktime with perian. the odd thing is, under the summary tab, when i dropped the mkv in, it said it was unrecognized on both audio and video... strange considering that its just xvid and vorbis. i'll do more testing on it, but i thought it worth pointing out the error.

Apparently there's a version 1 and version 2, and the latter is not supported.

oh.. well, i guess its a pretty straightforward issue, then. i solved it by running the mkv through my older version of mkvmerge and it squared off the issue, presumably because mkvmerge repackages the mkv into a v1 container?

regardless, it may be a sign that ffmpegx has gotten a little too archaic in its supported outputs... cant wait to see what major has in store for the next release.
