I have been trying to pull up files from my JVC everio hard drive camcorder onto my pc to edit with videoredo, but have had no luck. MY camcorder reads USB mass storage when I plug in the USB cord and I am never able to locate any files I have recorded on my pc. Need some major help because it seems like I am very stupid.

So you plug in the USB cable, and it recognises that the camera is attached ?
You can open Windows Explorer and see the files on the camera ?

Open Windows Explorer by double-clicking My Computer and you should see all your drives, including the camera. You can double-click the camera drive to explore it, and locate your files. Once you find them, you should be able to simply drag a copy to your PC and edit from there.

I seem to recall that the files are not immediately usable and may have to be converted using the software that came with the camera.

    Att: Gunslinger,

I can't thank you enough for your help. However, I am able to locate several files on my E drive removable disk that include DCIM, EXTMOV, SD_Video, all of which are empty and take me to empty folders when explored. Is there something wrong with my hardware or is this operator error. thanks

I don't know these cameras well enough to tell you where to look. DCIM is a standard folder usually used for storing still images and is used by most (all ?) digital still cameras.

I would start by looking at the software that came with the camera, as I suspect it will be part of the transfer process. Your manual should cover this.
