Hi, I had FAVC installed and running perfectly in my old drive, then I had to clone my master drive since the other one was starting to show signs of crashing (no bad sectors yet tho). Then on the new drive when I press Generate DVD on FAVC the following message pops:

avs2avi.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Error signature:

AppName: avs2avi.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0140f6c0

After the error appears and I press Don't Send, it appears again 5 times, 1 per files im trying to convert, after the last one is gone HC enconder starts encoding, after the second pass on the first video file it crashes,

"MPEG2 encoder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

    so its very weird

    any ideas? please help!

  6. Describe ALL drives in your system, both Before and After the Clone.

    How was the HD cloned?

If this is a true copy, and any program or Temp files or directories stored on another drive are still there with the same drive letter, then it should be working OK. You have re-installed but this may well use the same off-drive storage or reference.

Example - prog on C drive uses temp files on D drive. C drive failing, is cloned to D. D now used as C, no D drive present, program on C attempts to store files on D, error.

Otherwise, copied files were not reliable. If just ONE is proven bad, ALL must be considered bad. Format and re-install.

  8. Kinda sounds like a missing directory issue.

Are you SURE all other drives are present, and at the same drive letter, as before?

Check all the creation directories, 2nd pass would use one, creating DVD would use one.

IF drive is a true exact copy, files are valid (?), prog has been re-installed, both failures occur as a different storage directory would be accessed. Possible these are on the copied drive but did not copy over due to impending corruption. Possible registry corruption.
