I have been asked to build a pc for doing video editing and was wondering could someone recommend some specs. The guy said he had a Matrox card in his old pc but that aint working anymore and would like another Matrox card in the new PC ( I have looked up the price of these and they are very expensive). He said he was using Adobe Premiere 6 and still wants to use it as he knows it best. He does weddings etc.. and records from video tapes to dvd etc... I dont know much about video editing so if someone can recommend some specs it would be a great help.

This is what I've put together for a client and they love it. Everything has been working rock solid since September.

    Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
    DFI Blood Iron Mobo
    2GB DDR2 RAM
    2x500GB Seagate SATA Hard Drives
    600 Watt Power Supply
Video Card - Depends on the kind of monitors he has. PCI Express - Nvidia 8600GT or GTS is fine for what he's doing
    FireWire PCI card

the video card is sorta important. what model card does he have now? why does he want to use that same brand? there are lots to choose from, how does he xfer video to computer? what media does he capture video in? I'm asking all this because all that will determine weather he can just use analog in IE RCA cables/svid does he use analog or digital? if digital then a firewire port but that would depend on what output his cameras have.

give as much info on this stuff as possible and you will get some good answers. there are lot of knowledgeable people here.
