After using Ripit4me, DVDDecrypter, FixVts and DVDShrink to backup a DVD, I can't seem to get ImgBurn to work. Do I have a wrong setting? Plese help. I have been backing up DVD for a few years and this problem is recent.

On one of my PCs, ImgBurn basically just doesn't work at all on one of my burners. It's not really a problem for me as I have 2 burners so I just use the other one, but I have no idea how to fix this. It used to work fine on both of my burners. If you're having the same problem, it's going to be a tough one. You might try uninstalling ImgBurn and reinstalling it and seeing if that helps.

After encoding in DVD shrink, the program tells me to install Nero. When I hit burn in ImgBurn the screen is greyed out and I can't enter any settings.

The regular version of Shrink defaults to Nero for burning. Or you can cancel Nero and select DVD Decrypter. Or just choose to create a ISO, or, If I remember properly, you can 'burn' the VIDEO_TS folder to your hard drive. There was a version of Shrink that could automatically burn with ImgBurn, the same as using DVD Decrypter, but it was removed from the market.

The simple option is to let Shrink create a ISO and drop that into ImgBurn to burn to DVD. ImgBurn itself accepts ISOs in 'Write' mode or VIDEO_TS folders in 'Build' mode.

Does ImgBurn just fail with Shrink or doesn't it work for any burning?

In DVD Shrink whenn I go to burn, it is greyed out and ImgBurn does not start to burn. That's about all I can say.

What do you mean by imgburn does does not start to burn? Have you opened imgburn and selected the iso and then burn and it does not start? You can then try other iso burning software like cdburnerxp.

I'm still unclear on this. Shrink can only use Nero or DVD Decrypter to burn with it's regular versions. If you uncheck 'Burn with Nero', then it should give you the option of creating a ISO or burning with DVD Decrypter.

There was a modified version of Shrink that could use ImgBurn automatically the same as using Decrypter to burn. Did you have that installed before? It's been discontinued.

You should always be able to create a ISO with Shrink, save that as a separate file and use that manually in ImgBurn or Decrypter or other ISO burning programs, even Nero.

Or install DVD Decrypter and use that to burn with automatically with Shrink. The downside of Decrypter is that it may not work properly with some newer drives. I should add, some versions of Nero also won't with Shrink automatically.

Both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are older programs that still work quite well. But neither have been updated in some time and won't be again.
