I'm trying to figure out why the SVCD that I'm making get choppy playback on my standalone player. I've read it could be bitrate related and checking my files with MPEG-2 Validator I see a valued named Program mux rate, which I believe is the same as the Sys bitrate in Gspot. What is this value and could it be related to the choppy playback? On my MPEG encoded movies it's always 2793 bps... Thanks!

In the technical specs VCD and SVCD are listed as compatible with the player. The thing that I can't understand is why the movies play fine at begining and its always the last half of them that start playing choppy.

Choppy playback could also be becuase of crappy cd media so I would try another cd media brand.
