I have made copies of my original DVD's for my daughter. From the beginning I let her watch the original ones, but after a while I noticed scratches and fingerprints all over the DVD surface so I used DVD Shrink to copy some of her favorites. I only copy the movie, not the menues, or the compression will be too big. But I have seen from others that they can copy exactly the parts they want. For instance, you want the menues, you want the deletes scenes the music clip but not the feuterettes. How is it possible to just extract thoose parts, or others and laborate so you find optimal compression. Anyone who knows?

There is a a free software PgcEdit which will allow you to do that, but it is hard to get into, than there is DVD ReMake Pro. This one is easier to learn and at the beginning you can just use "Hide" function to get rid of what you do not like. Later on when you get familiar with VM commands you can delete all unwanted parts and basically reauthor DVD the way you like. For compression software I recommend DVD Rebuilder.

Vobblanker (nuke out unwanted components) > pass to dvdshrink afterwards ... safest bet when you want to recreate a dvd without main title .

Dvdshrink supports clipping in reauthor mode , but menu's are not supported in this mode (fix with pgcedit) .

  4. you can do clips AND have menus in DVDShrink when Reauthoring. do a search on my (much earlier) posts. I started that thread years ago, and alot has been added to it.

    good luck.

"Hiding" extras with PGCedit doesn't actually remove them so the end file is just as big as when you started. VobBlanker is much better for that but has the drawback that some standalones will still attempt to play the extras even after they've been removed. PGCedit is also a whole new can of worms when it comes to skipping files that some players still need to function correctly.
