What I want to know is if I am able to save it under a different method in which it will automatically open up for the person…just like a Word document. You don’t have to open Word first and have a blank page then click “Open” to open the document. With the .xfd file, the person has to save it first, go to the program and open a blank template, then click on “Open” go to the file and open it. Is there any way to convert this to 'Word'?
When I attempt to open it myself from the e-mail attachment it tells me, “Cannot open form data file. This may be because the Form Template cannot be located in the path specified in your Form Location in the ZAW Options. Please check and try again.”
Thanks as always, guys!![]()

I'm not familiar with that format, but you would need to 'associate' that extension with the program you want to use to open it. In any folder, click 'Tools>Folder Options>File Types'. Find that extension or create it, then associate it with the default program you want to use to open it with. Then when you click on a file with that extension, it should launch the program and open the file.
That's at least is the way it works with .doc extension files for Word.
EDIT: What program does your .xfd file relate to? I use them with the Pure Edge reader for government applications, similar to a Adobe .pdf file. But I see them also associated with Atari. You would need a reader or program installed to associate them with.

The site filext.com is handy for figuring out what an unknown file extension might be:
