    Hi there,

is there a Linux tool for splitting AVIs? Google said there was avisplit, but haven't found it yet somewhere.

Can't mencoder or the mjpegtools do this job?

    Thanx

Yes, it works with mencoder and Linux , just found this hint:

    http://www.misterhowto.com/index.php?category=Computers&subcategory=Video&article=trim..._with_mencoder

    or shorter URL: http://tinyurl.com/2zjuco

For other people who may have the same issue, how to split a film named movie.avi, let us say, it is 3 GB and you need to split in pieces < 2 GB so the standalone player can play them:

mencoder -endpos 01:00:00 -ovc copy -oac copy movie.avi -o movie-split-1.avi

mencoder -ss 01:00:00 -ovc copy -oac copy movie.avi -o movie-split-2.avi

Now one has movie-split-1.avi which is one hour long and this should be < 2 GB on the harddisk and movie-split-2.avi. Great!
