    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows where to download the latest firmware (v.2.5) for Toshiba HD-A2 HD dvd player.
I downloaded the ISO file from their website but for some reason it will not burn onto a cd.
I've used imgburn, dvd decrypter and a few other programs but with the same results: "invalid or unsopperted file format".

I emailed Toshiba asking them if the ISO file on their website is corrupted but the response wasn't very helpfull.
I know I can order a firmware cd from them free of charge but it takes 2 or more weeks to get it, reason why I decided to ask here in the forum if anyone knows of any other website I can download it from or if anyone has it and can link me to the file, which would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not having any problems with the player, I just like to keep things updated.

Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    T.

Most likely a burning issue...not a corrupt file. You have to open the image file using your burning software...not just burn the iso to disk as data.

Thanks for your reply, but if you read my post it says I tried burning the ISO image onto a cd using imgburn, dvd decrypter and a few other programs and all failed.

I'm not burning the ISO file itself directly onto a cd, I'm familiar with ISO images and the process of burning them.

I tried it both under Win Vista and Win XP all with the same results.

Anyway, once again thanks for the reply.

  4. IMGBurn and Decrypter only burn DVDs don't they? I don't think you can burn CDs with either program.

I just used Nero 8 to burn the file and it didn't complain..... I'm assuming it worked cuz like the web site stated it can't be read on a pc and I just stuck the cd in the A2 and it read it just fine. Asked me if I wanted to do the update.

    BUT, having said that.

I updated my A2 yesterday via ethernet. Worked like a charm, altho it does take a while and the manual is a joke on how to do this. Far better instructions on their web site.

    takes about 15-20 minutes.

I did read your post. But it isn't clear how you burned the iso. Just trying to clear up the obvious. I've also downloaded and burned the iso from the webpage and it works without any issues. FWIW, I'm using Nero 6.x.

Indeed, you have correctly identified the original poster's problem. That's why the people who say they burned with Nero, which can burn ISOs to CDs, had no problems.

    For the record:

"ImgBurn is a lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application that everyone should have in their toolkit!"
    right from the website.

  9. Exactly I burn CD Rom images all the time with Imgburn. They work and Imgburn loads quicker than Nero.

Thanks, Scotty and TBoneit for confirming that we can indeed burn ISO images to cd's using imgburn. I've done it plenty of times.

Anyway, I used Nero and it burned Toshiba's firmware update with no problems. Now I'm just wondering why imgburn won't do it.

Thanks to all for the help, much appreciated.

  11. Did you try it by right clicking on the imge file and choosing burn with imgburn? I never had it not work for me.

  12. ImgBurn 2.3.2.0 won't work because the image doesn't contain a recognised file system.

I'm aware of the issue with these custom ISO's and it's been fixed (worked around) for the next version.
