Is it possible to use a downloaded .flv file extension with Avisynth directly or does it need to be converted to a .avi first? (Is there an external plug in? )Thanks.

You can use the ffmpegsource plugin for Avisynth to open .FLV files.

If you can play the flv with wmp you should then be able to use directshowsource() in avisynth. If you can't play flv in wmp install FLV splitter and ffdshow.
