  1. lo fellas, im new to this (yea another newbie :) anyways i have some films downloaded some allready in mpeg format, problem is its like watchin the film through a letterbox, is there anyway to make them full screen? ive played about with tpmg encoder and cant do it, is it possible?

  2. it's possible to crop but depending on the resolution it might look bad afterwards. What kind of shape are we talking here: is it similar to dvd(widescreen) or thinner.

  3. the current size in total takes up about half the screen, what program would i use to crop it? i take the point about the resolution might not be great but its worth a try i suppose.

You probably got a movie in the 2,35:1 wich is the Widest of them all. load the file into TMPGEnc and goto settings "advanced". set sourceaspect to 1:1 or 4:3 pal/ntsc depending if you're US or EU. Then Doubleclick on "clip frame" and go to arrange settings and choose "no margin(keep aspect ratio)" now you have fullscreen. the downside is that you loose about 50% of the movie in the sides but you can't have it all.
