I have been looking and trying the aftermarket hd pal to hd ntsc conversion applications for several months. I've noticed much discussion here with many differing opinions seemingly based on those one off experiences. My needs are based from hd pal mpeg2 files(with muxed audio) exported from my home video’s to having convert them to hd ntsc mpeg2 that is required for importing into movie factory hd 3X redlaser dvd authoring. These in turn play on my Toshiba HD E1. (I really do wish Toshiba would hurry up an be able to provide firmware to play hd pal source material !)
A few people have had excellent results with avisynth scripts to do the hd pal to hd ntsc conversion.
I am much a newbie to using avisynth but the finalisation with getting audio in sync and the finer details seems to land me back to where I started and so it seems, other differing viewpoints.
Is there anyone out there with similar requirements and /or able to assist me with step by step method to achieve these potentially perfect results.? (all other methods with tmpg, procoder etc are not smooth, crisp and accurate as hd really is), having tried and experienced all these different methods.
Thank you in advance.

Post a Gspot Screen capture of your source PAL video specs. Important to know what the characteristics of the source video is - Interlaced, video vs film, Transport Stream vs regular Mpeg2, etc.
Have you tried Atlantis? http://www.dvfilm.com/atlantis/index.htm
It does very nice PAL-NTSC conversion. Demo version here: http://www.dvfilm.com/atlantis/atlantis1.exe
Just drop your mpeg2 into the program and convert
$200, but it'll save you a lot of hassle -
hi and thanks for your reply..
Unfortunately I have tried dv film without success. the problems are as follows..
..At the end of conversion, it states MP2 audio is not supported in vob file.. hence I've no audio in the final avi file.
..secondly, the mpeg2 file when imported into dv film is the wrong aspect as though it won't recognise as widescreen footage. It carries this problem all way thru to it's own export.
.. thirdly... the final exported avi is VERY MUCH STOP. START.. It looks like this software is not suited with my source files.
Regards my source files...
The file is indeed interlaced pal footage.(as per pal land videocamcorders. albeit edited/exported with premiere pro).
The audio is already muxed mpeg. all 25 fps video.
I've played with demuxing my mpeg2 file to handle dvfilm video only but I still have stop/start, non 16/9 output, audio thats asking for troubles regards being out of sync etc etc.
I've had a gentleman take a sample of my mpeg2 files and has done an excellent job in the conversion.
He has used all sorts of methods, mainly centred around avisyth, but has not got back to me with a step by step approach.
More help greatly appreciated.
Chris.
