Could I get some recommendations for some relatively inexpensize non-HDD DVDRs that have tuners(analog or digital)? Also, preferably(but not exclusively) from a store that offers extended warranties such as Best Buy or Circuit City?

I tried reading through the "DVD Recorder models - Picture Quality and Features Analysis" and the "DVD recorders -- FATAL FLAWS LIST!" threads, but they really didn't help me. Also, the "DVD recorders -- FATAL FLAWS LIST!" thread may have made me bit paranoid about most models. Maybe with the exception of JVC brand.

I had a Panasonic DVDR that I purchased about 3 or 4 years ago that recently went out on me, but other than a few flaws with the unit, I was pretty satisfied with it, therefore, I'm now thinking about getting another Panasonic but am interested in some other options. At another forum, the Toshiba DR400 was recommended which can be purchased from Circuit City, but I know nothing about that model. Any help would be appreciated.

I would also suggest the Toshiba recorders, for non-HDD.

Even the new "7/8" type JVC machines are not as good as the older MV1/MV5/10/100/30/300 type machines. The new ones are a bit flimsy (all-plastic) and lack things like FR mode (which allowed for the cherry 3-hour FR-180 setting).

I recently tested out a number of DVD recorders again, and I decided to keep the Philips 3575, which has a 160GB HDD, DIVX/XVID/MPEG-4 playback, ATSC/QAM tuners, and is pretty a pretty clean encode at SP mode (I wouldn't suggest much further, however). I mostly use it to timeshift HD content (at 720x480i, of course), and watch on the HDTV it's connected to. I had to drive halfway across the state to find a Walmart that had one, nice day trip. There was a Magnavox too, but it lacked MPEG-4 and was 80GB, for $100 less. The machines were otherwise pretty close to identical.
