How do i burn Lightscribe DVDs?

I've got Nero6 express and it seems i should be able to use this, from what i've read. But i can find nothing in the help files. And the guides on the internet include options in the instructions that simply don't appear in cover designer (like "print lightscribe label"). Is there an idiots guide that works, or can someone here give me instructions please? Thanks.

After starting Nero Express, at the top of the first menu select the drive that is able to burn Lightscribe discs. Once you do this, the option to burn Lightscribe will magically appear. If Nero Express defaults to a drive that can't burn Lightscribe, you won't see the Lightscribe burn option. It's pretty straightforward to figure out what to do once you have Nero Express select the correct drive for Lightscribe. If just can't figure it out after what I posted, send me a private message about it. Please be patient for about 1 week but I will get back to you as I have another suggestion, but I don't want to post about it here and I need to get back home (I'm out of town right now) to be able to help you.

Hi - if you mean the drop-down "which recorder would you like to use" it defaults to the correct burner anyway as i only have one! No lightscribe option anywahere as far as i can see

first have you installed the lightscribe system software? if not go to lightscribe.com and do so. nothing will find the burner without it.

i could be wrong but i think nero didn't work with lightscribe until version 7. you can try the free lightscribe simple lableler from the lightscribe.com site to see if the drive is working. i use surething cd labeler for lightscribe discs.

I'm beginning to think the same thing, tho' i've seen plenty of guides on how to use lightscribe in nero express 6! I have a v7 "essentials" with the burner, but installed it once and it seemed to hijack the entire computer so i uninstalled it again. I think i'll stick to the lightscribe s/w for the time being - i've heard nero's pretty poor anyway. Many Thanks.

When I put nero that came with my LS drive on my computer a LIGHTSCRIBE icon was put on my desktop for this purpose. Maybe your Nero is out of date?

I had the exact same experience with an LG GSA-2166D external USB DVD burner. The help file for Nero Express 6 (version 6.6.0.15) shows pictures and has instructions for using LightScribe but the option doesn't show up in Express 6 or NeroSmart. I even downloaded the latest LightScribe control panel the "Host Software" as the help file described it and nothing changed.
However, going to LightScribe.com and visiting their download section will give better results. LightScribe "Template Labeler" application does what I need it to do as does the "Simple Labeler" application. They're free. Don't know what the problem with Nero Express was. I even read a review about my drive wherein the reviewer used Nero Express 6 (ver 6.6.0.9), an early version than mine, to inscribe an image with the LightScribe function. I'm guessing they took out the functionality or broke the LightScribe feature with the newer versions.

I just found version Nero-6.6.1.15d_wch.exe at Nero's site I'm going to try it. It's suppose to update all versions of Nero 6, Express et al.

NERO 6 (OEM versions) that comes with LightScribe Burners like LiteOn can burn LightScribe media and the option is included in the Cover Designer too.

You can try this:

Uninstall Nero and then reinstall it. That may make Nero 'see' that LS drivers/services are installed.

I have not tried a full uninstall. I did apply the patch and LightScribe still does not show up. Only only difference I saw was that the "Preferences" tab in Nero Express now has a "LightScribe" page. However, when I select a drop down to point it at my drive it comes up empty. Also LightScribe is still not present in the main menu as an option. I think it's just not seeeing the drive. Maybe someone else will figure it out but I don't want to waste another three hours of my morning trying. The apps from the LightScribe site are good enough for my purposes. Thanks for the tips though.

I have Nero 8 and I just downloaded this file from Nero website. After installation, a new icon called "Print LightScribe Label" is now shown.

I have Nero7 Ultra, and never could get it to work. It recognized my Lightscribe burner and all, but glitched, froze, refused to enter editing screens and once even crashed. I gave up and purchased Droppix and have been a happy camper ever since.

I tossed in a Pioneer R-200 with pre-existing Nero 6.6.01.8.
If I go to cover designer it's at the top left.
Listed in the Nero product center is Lightscribe API 1.6.45.1 (from Lightscibe site)
This is used only for disc labeling as I use ImgBurn for disk burning.
