No sound when converting muxed mpeg-1 file to AVI DivX!

I recently bought a sony dcr-sr82 and i'm trying to convert it's movie format over to avi or some other kind of file that I can import into imovie. I got the video to convert but no sound. Any suggestions on how to do this?

you'll want to convert to DV format. what is the source audio?

i'm not sure how do you find out. I had the audio codec set mp3.

First, read this, the cause of missing audio:

(your Sony is in Apple's list of iMovie supported camcorders)

Try using Streamclip to demux your clips and then import them into iMovie, but I think it will convert directly to DV.

It worked when I converted it to DV. Thanks for all the extra info and help.
