Recently I got "Failed to read file L:\" and "Data error (Cyclic redundancy check)" errors while attempting to backup 2 different DVDs using DVDShrink, but DVDShrink completed with no errors if run on files created by DVDFabDecrypter first. Is this a DVDShrink bug or simply something to do with its inability to run on some newer DVDs?

New protection on newer dvds, https://forum.videohelp.com/topic283172.html

It might be a new protection, but maybe not. It can also happen with certain drives. I get it sometimes with my Lite-On, but then my LG works OK.

For newer stuff, just keep using DVDFabDecrypter>Shrink>Imgburn...
works great...." Who needs Google, my wife knows everything" -
New protection is apparently the culprit since same problem occurred on Benq, Pioneer and LiteOn drives. Thanks for the info.
