I have used AutoGK very successfully in converting movies to avi. But
some Asian titles bewilder me. I rip the DVD with DVDFab HD Decrypter
and when you play it back you can activate and view the subtitles. In
AutoGK you can see and select the English subtitles as an option. But
when you convert it in AutoGK, the subtitles do not appear???

Is there some weird or different formatting used on Asian titles?

You haven't selected "Use external subtitles" in AutoGK under advanced settings?

  3. Or are you ticking the "Display Only Forced Subtitles" box in the Advanced Settings area, which is guaranteed to not get you any subtitles, unless you have Forced Subs in the DVD? If either of the 2 suggestions doesn't solve the problem, then how about a log for an encode that failed to produce subs.

    No.

i dont have the DVD at this time to regenerate the log but
external subtitles is not checked. i have the subtitle
language selected and forced subtitles is unchecked.
i also tried with forced subtitles checked. neither provided
    subtitles.

  5. If you can't post a log, then let's try something else. Extract the VobSubs from the DVD. Use VobSub Configure. Here's a guide:

    http://www.doom9.org/dvobsub.htm

When done, rename them to the same as the movie, like Movie.avi, Movie.idx, and Movie.sub. Put them in the same folder as the AutoGK created AVI and play the movie. If you have DirectVobSub installed, the subs should play along with the movie. If you see subs, then make the movie over again, but this time, rather than letting AutoGK get the subs, add them in yourself using the CTRL-F8 trick, following Baldrick's guide here:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic316471.html

Note: if there's more than one language of subs in that IDX/SUB (check when getting them using VobSub Configure), then afterwards, get only the one you want using VobSubStrip. Or, when using VobSubConfigure, remove the other languages from the right side of that screen.
