    i have a wdg Portable disk after i installed a portable dvd burner
    it cannot recognized by pc , Tried to replace usb cable , searched at the cmos (bios) at boot sequence , and made a scan at the device manager but it doesn't help?

    Right-click on My Computer and select Manage. About half way down the list should be Disk Management. Click on this, and see if your drive appears in the right-hand pane. It may have been allocated a drive letter already in use. If so, right-click on the drive and select Change Drive Letter.

    still doesn't appear , tried to reinstall some of my usb but it doesn't work

    Try updating your chipset drivers. You should find them at your motherboatd manufacturers site.

    How can i backup the old chipset? can it be recustructed ?

    You are just updating drivers - the same thing as updating video drivers. It should not affect your machine in any adverse way. Worst case, you can roll the update back using RollBack driver or System Restore.
