    Hello Everybody!!

    I have several problems which all relate to the Playstation 3. That doesn't mean that if you don't own one, you can't solve these problems. It's actually all about converting to MP4 with and without recoding of video/audio etc.

    Lets start with the first problem. I have on my harddrive a TV show in HD MP4 format. If I dump the file in Gspot all the information I get is in the Container box and says:

    File Type: 3GPP Media (.3GP) [MP4 compat.]
    Mime Type: video/mp4

    the rest of the boxes are empty except the one stating file size and length of the clip.

    These files work perfectly when I stream them from my pc to my PS3 using Tversity!! I can fast forward and rewind which means that the files are not transcoded but streamed. The quality is excellent and the sound is fine. I'd like to keep it that way..But here is the problem. I can't find a way to hardcode subtitles (srt files) into the MP4 files. Can anyone please tell me how, without too much loss of quality, I can recode the MP4 files burning the subs into the picture in the process? I'd also love the possibility to define the font and size...

    I thought of the following option:
    1. Demux the file
    2. hardcode subs into h264 file
    3. Mux the h264 and AAC files

    title.mp4 --> title.h264/title.aac --> recode h264 + srt --> remux recoded h264 + aac to mp4

    The question here is..How do I recode h264 files without compressing the file any further but adding the subtitles??

    Is there a tool (hopefully with GUI) that can do all of the above??

    Next question, rather simple:
    How do I do the same for MKV files?(which I can't fast forward on my PS3)

    When I demux a mkv file I get an h264 file and an AC3 file. I suppose converting the AC3 to AAC 2ch. shouldn't be a big problem (using neroaacenc.exe??? does it have a gui?) so let's just lower the priority on that. But now...it's MKV....how do I go from MKV to MP4? I read somewhere that it's not really hard to do....but how do I do it?

    title.mkv --> title.h264/title.aac/ac3 --> recode h264 + srt --> remux recoded h264 + aac to mp4

    If I am not mistaken, after this process I should be able to fast forward these files too...

    Last question:
    How do I convert from DVD to MP4? Keeping the quality intact? How large should a MP4 file be when I do this?

    I need a program that can read a DVD, ISO or Video_ts folder, convert the video to h264 and hardcoding the subs of my choice AND converting the audio to AAC AND muxing them together in an MP4. How?? how howhow!!!??!?!?

    I've been trying and trying, using different software like megui but still haven't succeeded...Some help would be very much appreciated...

    Regards,

    Demirdag!!

    MeGUI can do everything, but as you have noticed it's not designed for the average user. You must reconvert if you hardcode subtitles so you will lose a bit video quality. I'm currently working on a basic guide how to hardcode subtitles using MeGUI.

    Try FairUse Wizard to convert DVD to MP4 with hardcoded subtitles, I think they have some ps3 profiles also.

    And if you just want to convert a mkv with h264 to mp4 for a ps3 with no subtitles you can use GOTSent.

    And this is why I use a HTPC instead of any ps3,xbox 360 or other media centers. Too much converting to get everything working.
