  1. Hi there, going to try and keep this as concise as possible.

I am using Roxio MyDVD 8 to compile my clips (videowave) and burn it to DVD. For some reason, when I burn it to DVD and view it on my tv, the video's all have this tracing effect, or trailing effect and they are very difficult to watch because it seems blurry. I get the same result when viewing it through intervideo WinDVD with my laptop connected to the TV.

However, when I use Cyberlink PowerDVD to view the same DVD, I do not get this effect. I used Cyberlink's DVD maker tool on a test movie file, and for some reason that one displays fine on my tv, and through WindDVD. I tried to re-create my entire DVD using Cyberlink's product, but it keeps crashing with unknown errors and it's rather annoying.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? The blurry effect? i have it set to the highest quality, NTSC format, Dolby AC-3 audio.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  2. Hi-

Got a small sample for us to study? It's hard from just a description to advise where the project went wrong. 10 seconds or so of a section with movement should be plenty.

  3. Hi there, a sample clip can be downloaded from

I can only see it when looking at it on my tv screen. You'll notice when the guy is swinging the shotgun, there is a trailing effect, and the the duck flying in has major wing beat blurr.. I know it's not normal because when I watch it for long, I start getting a headache because it's hard on the eyes. I hope this clip shows up messed, cause you might think I'm "on" something when watching it

    Thanks,
    Patrick

  4. You have top-field-first video encoded as bottom-field-first.

  5. Is there an easy way to convert the final product DVD from BFF to TFF? Or will I have to re-encode the MPEG files from scratch? I don't see any way to change that within Roxio. I'm choosing NTSC as my type, but it seems like the BFF is for the PAL format?

    Thanks,
    Patrick

Demux (PGCDemux), change the field order of the resulting M2V (ReStream), remux (Muxman), and add the remuxed video back to the original DVD using the "Replace" button in VobBlanker. Reencoding not necessary. If there aren't any menus or anything else in the DVD you want to keep, then you can skip the final VobBlanker step.

Both PAL and NTSC DVDs may contain either TFF or BFF video. TFF is the more common for both, but there aren't any requirements regarding the field order.

  7. Thanks.. I think what I did should work, but haven't had a chance to try it on my TV or dvd player yet.

I went to my DVD folder that was already created and I used TMPGenc to de-multiplex my .VOB files into a .MPV and .AC3 file.

I then used restream to change the streaming to TFF from BFF. I then took the new .MPV file and multiplexed it with the existing .AC3 file.

This gave me a .MPG file which I then re-named exactly to what my first .VOB file was that I initialy used.

I'm just hoping this won't mess up any of my menu items, and I also had an intro movie that played first before the menu pops up.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

    It doesn't work that way.

My guess is that it'll mess everything up, and that you'll no longer have a working DVD. But I could be wrong, I guess.
