A few days ago, I installed a program, which is called MelodyCan. I installed it as if it is a normal application. However, my computer suddenly went black, and it restarted. Then I could not hear any sound when playing videos. I uninstalled the program, but no sound neither. Is there anybody who can help? A little bit desperat with the program.
Since then, I hear the sound when a message pops up, if there is notice for me to interact. I think I did not get such sound before installing the program.

You could try installing the latest audio drivers for your MB/sound card.

Assuming you are using XP, you can go to Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices, Audio tab, and verify the correct device is listed in the drop down box under "Default device". This drop down should have your sound card/driver listed.

Thanks for the information. And I noticed that there is no option under the Default device before installing.
Quite frustrated when I tried to install the driver, as I mistakenly deleted plug and play software device enumerator.
    Anyway, it works now.
    Thanks.
