  1. I tried updating avisynth to the version you pointed to (avisynth+) but it made no difference.

I noticed that my install of AVStoDVD had its own version of avisynth so I uninstalled and reinstalled AVStoDVD -- this time, I unchecked the avisynth install button. The log shows:

    AviSynth Version: AviSynth+ 3.7.2 (r3661, 3.7, i386) (release 2.60)

so it is picking up the latest version of avisynth, but it still fails in exactly the same way.

Try manually running the command using this version (4.1.1 32-bit)
of FFmpeg using multiple threads and see if you get anything different

  3. This version of ffmpeg runs okay even with -threads 32. I only got the usual 32 threads warnings I have always gotten.

Should I copy this version into AVStoDVD's ffmpeg folder?

That should be OK, you'll have to try a run through to make sure the whole thing works.
Hey congrats, you got a result

  5. Okay, here's what I ended up doing:

    1) fresh install of avisynth+
    2) fresh install of AVStoDVD -> unchecked the tool's avisynth install
    3) install of davexnet's ffmpeg on top of tool's ffmpeg install

My test project completed with no issues.

    Successful result!

Thank you very much for all of the help!!

  7. I'm having problems converting a PAL frame rate to a NTSC frame rate. The source is 50fps but I changed the scan type to Interlaced.
ConvertFPS says: 'New framerate too small. Must be greater than 66.6666 increase'

Seems to be a 720p source, mpeg-2 inside MKV, interlaced, Pal frame rate converted to NTSC using blend.
It goes wrong during the encode, I suspect something about the file itself.
Can you upload the source file

  11. Someone recently posted about a dll issue. I have a similar Active X issue on Win 10:

I've got a similar issue on my Win 10 install (still works fine on XP!), "Windows Common Controls Active X Library (mscomctl.ocx) is not installed or is not configured properly.

This file is mandatory for AVStoDVD.

    Any suggestions?

Did you run the install setup or are you using the portable version?

Within the AVStoDVD folder structure there is folder called "Lib" and in there is a file called mscomctl_reg.bat - right click this and choose "run as adminstrator"
and it should fix this problem

  13. When I make a menu (with default settings), VLC player won’t “highlight” the chapters in the menu. MPC-BE player does. What can I change so that VLC does the same?

The buttons still function on VLC, but I don’t get the yellow highlight when I hover over the button with my mouse.

Ok, that's the thumbnail to the title. I don't think you can do anything from within AVStoDVD,
this is more likely something in VLC.

The program would be reacting or interpreting something set by the authoring program,
    Muxman.exe

  17. Hi everyone! I was trying to convert a MKV file to DVD5, everything works perfect except for the subtitles, I get this error "WARNING! Process aborted during 'Title 1 SUBS encoding operations start' Section"
I have read in the forum a possible solution was opening the subtitles in SubtitleCreator and see if the program needs to fix something, but everything loads fine, I also see AVStoDVD converts it to ANSI format that is fine with the conversion, but I donīt know why is it failing. Here is one srt file obtained from windows temp folder and the log if that helps.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately I'm unable to recreate the problem using a suitable video, 2 audio tracks and your two subtitles.
I thought that perhaps it might be the long name of your video, sometimes too long a name with all those "."
can cause problems. I ran my test again using your same exact name and it still worked fine.
You should probably give it a try rename the video to "el_chico_y_la_garza.mkv" and try that

Thanks for your help, I tried renaming it to "el_chico_y_la_garza.mkv" but it still fails converting the srt files. I see the program tries to save the converted srt file as an IFO file in the route of the main program installation "C:\Program Files (x86)\AVStoDVD\SubtitleCreator\Examples\VTS_01_0.I FO", and that route needs admin privileges to copy files, does AVStoDVD need admin access before starting it?

If subtitles are being silly for me, extracting the subtitles and adding it back as an external subtitle track works. Even for blu-ray subtitles

Add your video file as normal, when prompted to choose what subtitles to add click the "demux selected subtitles track" then click the small red "x" in the corner and it will ask where to save the .srt file(s) and then extract it from the video. You can also edit this file as its now an .srt text file

Make sure there are no subtitles in the source video

Now go to the menu bar, choose "Titles/Subtitle/Add Subtitle" and choose the subtitle file(s) you've just extracted and add it as an external subtitle

Go to the menu bar again, and choose "Title/Edit Title/Subtitles" and turn OFF "auto subtitles setup" by unticking the box option

That usually fixes any subtitle issues and also allows me to hardcode subtitle if needed

You could also just try turning OFF "auto subtitles setup" without extracting the subtitles and load your video file with subtitles as normal

No idea why, but if I use "Auto subtitles" option it frequently doesn't recognise subtitles but with the option OFF subtitles are added and work as they should

  23. @ Nacheras,
Post a clip of the original MKV file that has some subtitles in it.
It can be up to 500MB.
That would usually be plenty if not more than needed.

As inferred by Steptoe, there's probably something about the particular MKV file,
so separating out the subs is a good idea. It's also possible just remuxing the whole mkv as-is
to another mkv (in MKVToolnix GUI) may fix it.

Avstodvd does not need Admin authority. It doesn't write to \program files(x86\AvstoDVD\subtitlecreator\examples\
I'm not sure what it's doing with that IFO file, but it's reading it only. The output of that step is a SUP file

Finally I got it!!! I discovered subtilecreator .exe wasnīt launching in AVStoDVD installation folder, so I installed it appart and replaced the folder, then I launched AVStoDVD with admin privileges and everything went ok, thanks you all.
Now I have to deal with the subtitles color, itīs horrible, mixed green with brown I donīt know why
