    Bye
Thanks - I'll check. It's an old software player, Cyberlink Powerdvd version 5 on an XP PC.
Appreciate the new version, will test shortly.

Here's the log. I wasn't able to determine if the Powerdvd I used had a default language or not. (I couldn't find it)
Used a different XP, WinDVD installed, this showed that the "audio language" was set to default.
The default language on the DVD appears to be English, despite my best effort to make it Japanese.

I tried "yes" and "no" when it asked about changing the default language, didn't affect the problem.

See these images for things that came up.

from the log file there is a discrepancy. See Preferences:

    Code:
DVD Audio Language (Primary): JA - Japanese
DVD Audio Language (Secondary): EN - English
    Then see the source info:

    Code:
    TITLE 1 SOURCE FILES
    Video: I:\temp_ut_complete\Durarara\test.mkv
    Info: AVC - 700 kbps - 1280x720 - DAR 1.778 - 23.976 fps (CFR) - Progressive - 24:29 minutes - 35235 frames
    Audio 1: I:\temp_ut_complete\Durarara\test.mkv
    Info: Vorbis - 48 kbps - VBR - 1 ch - 48000 Hz - 24:29 minutes (0 ms delay) - EN
    Audio 2: I:\temp_ut_complete\Durarara\test.mkv
    Info: Vorbis - 48 kbps - VBR - 1 ch - 48000 Hz - 24:29 minutes (0 ms delay) - JA
Then see the BatchMux authoring settings:

    Code:
    -a1 "K:\Temp\DVD_1_test_1.ac3"
    -a1lang ja
    -a2 "K:\Temp\DVD_1_test_2.ac3"
    -a2lang en
Hence the track flagged as JA is actually the EN track and viceversa.

If you want to have the EN track as primary and JA track as secondary, just swap the languages in the Preferences.

If you want to have the JA track as primary track and EN track as secondary, the best way is to remux the mkv (using i.e. mkvmerge) and moving the JA track before the EN track. Then feed AVStoDVD with the remuxed mkv. Keep the Preferences with JA as primary and EN as secondary.

I think I see what you mean. Within the MKV file itself, the streams are numbered as you can see below.
ENG is the first stream JPN s the second.

I thought AVStoDVD could re-order the tracks so that JPN would play by default, by changing the preferences.
But you're saying it cannot, you have to recreate the MKV with the streams in the opposite order.

Would it be possible to have AVStoDVD use some method to re-prioritize these streams?
Perhaps by dragging and dropping the lower stream to the top, in the main window.
Or allow a stream to be set as default on the title/audio tab ?
    (or something similar?)

    Thanks,
    Dave

Gave 2.7.1 a spin last night. New subs fix routine reported fixing 31 errors in the .Srt file. Seems to have gone well. Off to a promising start . . . .

  7. This is a bug report:
If I change the DPI from the default 96 in Windows Vista to custom or 120DPI.
The AVStoDVD icons change to the basic red, yellow,& green film strip icons for all buttons in the GUI.

There was a workaround with older versions even though the raw icons are still not quite as good.
The newer version doesn't have the Icons.7z for the workaround.

It would be nice if AVStoDVD accepted the DPI change without a workaround.
I have an older version so I was able to do the workaround in the new version .

If this isn't the correct thread for this bug report please move it to where it should be.

The "Installer" version does still have the Icons.7z files. In the next release I will add them to the "NoInstall" version too.

BTW you can download all the available AVStoDVD skins from http://sourceforge.net/projects/avstodvd/files/avstodvd_addons/More%20Skins/

  9. @ _MrC_ , With the "NoInstall" version the Icons.7z files need to be in the folder for the Skin choice to work.
    For example Skins/Default .
If they are just in the Skins folder they don't work for the workaround.

Do you plan on fixing the icon bug or will the workaround be the permanant fix ?
So far I haven't had this bug in other GUIs . I haven't opened every software I have to check that but the ones I have are OK.
So far only AVStoDVD has shown this bug from a DPI increase .
The other software authors must be doing something different .

Just to note I do use & like your program . If I didn't I wouldn't bother to post this bug.

Any possibility of changing the avisynth script window to be resizable, so when adding external avisynth filters that have a long filename they don't drop onto the next line. Just makes for reading/editing the avisynth scripts a bit easier

    Thanks

  11. @cholla

how to handle the Icons.7z file, in case of troubles with the icons, is explained in the Help/FAQ/GUI/Q2.6

Anyway I will make that workaround more "automatic" in the next release.

    @steptoe

ok, I will think about that. Meanwhile, I suggest you to use a better external text editor, such as Notepad++, and then copy & paste the script into AVStoDVD window.

  12. Hi MrC... I'm usually lurking, searching for my problems, but today I had to sign-up. I haven't authored a DVD in quite some time. I mostly work with BDs now.

I downloaded your latest package v2.7.1. I have AVSynth and Haali Splitter already installed, so I un-checked them during installation. I selected FFDShow for my encoders.

With my searches, I may have an issue with Muxman during the authoring process. I'm authoring to an ISO from MKV files.

It appears my video and audio encoding was successful. The output DVD folder layout looks normal and seems to have successfully encode one of my DAR 1.5 videos to 1.3.

For the past 5 hours (6 now) I've been stuck at 82% and 96% with Muxman. I haven't received any error messages yet, and 4 of my cores are still going strong. I'd show you a Muxman log, but it hasn't produced one yet.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers.

to understand if the issue is Muxman related, I would suggest you to try with only each single title and create 3 separate DVD-5 with them (with and without DVD menu). Then report back the errors, if any, or the success and we will continue the troubleshooting.

And attach the log file, not copy and paste it, better for the forum reading ease...

I installed v. 2.71 a few of days ago and tried to convert a webM file to MPEG2. However, the program aborted the operation after about 30 seconds with the message "Process aborted during Title 1 video encoding operations." I'm puzzled as to what happened as the settings I used are similar to what I've used quite successfully in the past. Could it be that the program doesn't support webM files? I figure I must be doing something wrong. I'm running Windows 7 with a quad-core processor running at 2.8 GHz, 4GB RAM with more than 100 GB of hard drive space. I looked at the log file but since I'm no expert at this, I didn't see anything that helped me to understand what happened. Hopefully someone here can take a look at the file and give me a clue as to what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for your help. The log file is posted below.

  15. Hi ganymede,

to understand if your system can decode the V_VP8 codec (video stream in the webm file) using a DirectShow approach, use the 'Codecs'/'Build DirectShow Filter Graph' option from AVStoDVD. Then report here the resulting graph.

    Hi MrC,

Below is a screen copy of the graph created by AVStoDVD. Although VLC plays the video on my system, from looking at the graph it doesn't look like any video is being decoded in AVStoDVD. When I played the GraphStudio file it was only audio, no video.

of course you can edit the AviSynth script. If you need assistance how to build a valid script, just post here your try.
    i have made minor edits

actually the question meant, how much capability is in this vr avisynth ? will filter scripts work as is
    OR
do filters and plugins have to be installed in the avisynth folders

i am reading the AVS2 DVD guide linked too in another post

    guess i am/was confused

I want a video background ... Not motion menus

i chose the wrong term, the programs go to the author stage and aborts, when trying to create with 'video background'

the background video is 720*480 TS 168 seconds, yes i changed the time in the 'templete' section of the menu setup

    MrC,

Just installed VP8 codec and AVStoDVD seems to be processing that webm file with no difficulty.
Thanks for pointing out what the possible problem was.

Hi, MrC and everybody else. I am a complete newbie so forgive me if these questions have already been asked as I was advised to ask them in here.

I was advised to use AVStoDVD to convert my MP4's to MPEG to make them DVD compliant and not have them re-incode but have ran into some difficulties.

I went through the procedure and converted the files. Eventually all the titles were shown in my video library. It did not go smoothly as I shall explain and perhaps you can tell me why this happened.

After AVStoDVD went through each title (clip), a warning message came up each time that said the following:

WARNING! Errors found during title 2 Audio Track 1 encoding.
Audio Channels are incorrect (6 vs 2)
Do You Want to start Backup Audio Encoding routine (FFmeg Safe Mode)?

Then it gave me the choice 'Yes' or 'No' each time with a time limit so I chose 'Yes' on each separate clip. This didn't seem right to me and I was expecting the conversion to convert all the files without my intervention each time. When I eventually tried a few of the clips in my video library, they played okay but there was no sound. Does this mean that there is something wrong with the audio and if so, how do I rectify it?

Also, can you tell me what 'AviSynth' does and if I should have it checked before starting the conversion or any other settings that need checking or setting beforehand for that matter?

On a completely different subject, When I start AVStoDVD, I get a warning message as follows:

Warning! Errors Found during Skin Icons Loading.

Default AVStoDVD icon will be used.
    See Help/FAQ/GUI/Q2.6 for more details.

I then click 'OK' and the error message then disappears and the AVStoDVD splash screen appears and then the program loads normally. Any ideas why this happens and what I should do to stop it?

I have attached my log for the files I converted that had no sound.

    Thanks

    HB

  24. @ganymede

thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear that you have fixed.

    @theewizard

do you get the same authoring issue using the latest AVStoDVD release (2.7.1)? And, please, use the VideoHelp upload file utility to post the log, otherwise the forum page become a mess.

    @HB

about the audio issue, take a look at Help/FAQ/Audio/Q4.1. If you have installed AC3Filter, uninstall it and have only ffdshow to manage the directshow audio channels mixer.

About the icons issue, have you tried to follow the suggestion/workaround in Help/FAQ/GUI/Q2.6?

    @ _MrC_
i have not tried the New ver Yet
i just successfully completed a disc with 'motion menu' icons ?

but the video bkgrd bug always aborts the program, even if using TEXT menu or still pictures menu

wil try with the new portable version

i had hoped you could point out a 'file' error in my chosen backgrd video stream

    Hi MrC,

I have looked in Programs and Features and cannot see 'AC3Filter' anywhere in there. Should I be looking elsewhere? Where would it be if on my system?

Thanks for the other advice, I will have a look and report back.

    Thanks

    HB

  27. @theewizard

let's try with 2.7.1. If you still have problem with the background video menu, upload the file you are using for the background to test it.

    @HB

if AC3Filter is not listed in Programs & Features then it should be not there in your system. To understand which directshow audio filter is being used:

    1. Add one of the problematic titles to AVStoDVD
    2. Select 'Build Directshow Filters Graph' from 'Codecs' (main window cascade menu)
    3. Take a screenshot and post it here

What is the reason for the error "The detected frame rate is invalid. Please enter it manually" ?

O.K., fine, so I call up the Codec Info tool in VLC, take the frame rate it reports, then put that value in manually, and all seems to be well. (Almost all: the already-present hardcoded subs in the .MKV file still cause AVS to bomb out at the subs stage, with generation of a 0 bytes in size attempted .Sup file. So I had to delete the phantom file, then do a second pass to combine just the .m2v and .acs assets files. After that, all was well.)

The framerate value on this last one that I entered manually was 26.280518. The one before that was 26.something else. However non-standard that may be (?), it can still lead to the end result of an acceptable and viewable dvd.
