I've been recording The Piano Guy in HD for about 2 months now. I have 5 .ts files that I want to record to DVD format now.
I've trimmed them down - taking out the extra stuff at the beginning and end.
Here are their properites:
Size: ~2.43 GB
Duration: ~00:26:45.9
Video: mpeg2video 1920x1080 NTSC
Audio: ac3 48KHz192Kbps
Without loss of quality how many episodes can I get for DVD/SL? DVD/DL?
I'm using the current full version of SVC2DVD.
Thanks for any info.

None. Can't be done. Among other things, you'll have to reduce the resolution to 1/5 of the original.Without loss of quality
Your best option would be to put 2, maybe 3 of those episodes to a DVD-5. Double that for a DVD-9

Well the key is the duration:

 @27mins per clip you get:

 SL: 2 clips @ 9000kbs
 SL: 3 clips @ 7000kbs
 SL: 4 clips @ 5100kbs
 SL: 5 clips @ 4000kbs

 DL: 4 clips @ 9000kbs
 DL: 5 clips @ 7700kbs

Where 9000kbs is the highest possible quality within the DVD spec. That said i have done a lot at 4000kbs and not been disapointed...SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

	Thanks!

Since there are 12eps per season, I figured I could play with 2-4 eps for DVD5 without resorting to 1eps per DVD.

I created a project and added 4eps and made the VIDEO_TS for a DVD5 disc using Autofit. I haven't burned it to a RW to check for quality yet. If I'm not happy with the results, I'll back it down to 3 (and so forth) until I get an acceptable quality.
If I can get 3eps for DVD5 or 6 for DVD9, that will work nicely for building up this HowTo library.

First off, thanks for a great little product.

You posted just before I made my post, as I was responding to Mats.

 Couple of questions:

 1) Where/How do I change the kbs? 4 clips per SL will do just fine for me.

 2) How do you make your calculations to determine what can fit on a SL/DL DVD? I also have some hour-long eps I want to burn, so I'd like to figure out how many eps/DVD I can get once I've deleted the commercials.

 3) Do I need to use AutoFit once I have them set or will the kbs take care of that?

 4) I'm using BeyondTV for my recording and some of the show endings start on the next shows .ts file. Would I just clip that ending and add it to the full file in the movie section to get it as a complete show? (much the same way you did a 2-part movie file.)

BTW, thanks for the video help files, they helped me figure out how to do multiple "movies" for episodes.

 5) I added a text box to the menu, but then decided I didn't want it. I couldn't figure out how to delete it. How is that done.

 Thanks for your help!

kbs is deduced automatically from how long (duration) the DVD will be, due to your sources, and the media (SL/DL). So you don't change it - the software does.Originally Posted by Nick Burns

so if your size is DVD5 (4.37GB, 4488MB, 4595776 Kbytes, 36766208 Kbits) and your duration is 2 hours (7200 secs) you would have:

 bitrate = 36766208 Kbits/7200 secs = 5106 kbs

SVCD2DVD will let you put as much duration on to a DVD as you want but will reduce the bitrate to fit it on. Therefore you should set yourself a minimum bitrate and so you will have a maximum duration to produce a DVD which is acceptable to you.

Well yes you do (or choose "quick dvd" which does it for you).Originally Posted by Nick Burns

Yes that would do it. Or you could use VideoRedo to do the editing and output a sinlge fileOriginally Posted by Nick Burns

Just edit the text and remove the text in the "Text Editor" (i think that is in the video help somewhere...)Originally Posted by Nick BurnsSVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

	Last question (I hope) --

Based on your answer, once I everything set up, is there someplace in the program that will tell me what bitrate it's using?

 Thanks again for your help!

Yes - just hover over the capacity:

Yes can't argue with that... The internal calculation is esentially based on the maths from that also.Originally Posted by mats.hogbergSVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
