  1. Hey, I checked the compatibility list, the Samsung DVD 511 player supports VCD and SVCD but not CDR, is there a way to get the VCDs or SVCDs to work on copied CDs? thanx

  2. I have one of these players. On commercial DVD's its seems to be a fine budget player. Howerevr, on my own VCD's I can only get it to play VCD format burnt with CDRW discs, not CDR's! I have not been able to persuade it to play SVCD's on any media, sorry.

  3. I see that I am not alone clumbring with this dvd player....
Ok.. this is what I have achieved:
I made a VCD based on a AVI file (NTSC FILM, 352x192 in resolution) that I first encoded to MPEG1. The MPEG1 file worked out perfectly on my computer, so I imagined it would on my Samsung DVD 511 as well... but.... the result was all sorts of glimpses and skips, with sound that also hacks. Still I have picture though...
What I have used is cheap Vivastar CDR discs.

My question for you... Don't you get any picture at all?

I am going to try with CDRW which has been suggested by other users here, and I am also going to give the normal CDR discs a new shot, but this time with 2X burning speed or maybe even just 1X....

Hopefully we can come up with a solution soon... :-?

  4. Well the player isn't really supposed to work with CDRs, though it might work with some specific CDRs, the best solution remains CDRW.

  5. Bugster,
Could I ask what brand of CDRWs you used? I have tried a couple, but so far none work. I have been able to get Vivastar CDRs to work though.
    Thanks in advance

  9. Thanks Bugster.
Looks like I've got some shopping to do over the weekend!

BTW, apparently Princo CDRs work on this player too if you can find them.
